From March 20 to 29, 2024 the artist and a large selection of his works on the Moselle (drawings, watercolors, engravings and paintings) fill the 100 m square of the InVitro space in Thionville, graciously loaned by the municipality.
The space is located in the city center, 2 minutes from the river, and approximately where - in 1824 - JMW Turner made a sketch of Thionville with its belfry. Perfect !...
...Or so l thought ; exactly 200 years later I drew a similar view from the exhibition window during an on-call...
...but I did it on the back of a good Luxembourg-Grund drawing. Idiot ! So the next day I drew the view again. On a blank page...
An intimate open evening on March 23 was an opportunity to taste some Moselle wines, including a local pinot noir from Malling, near Koeningsmacker. A big thank you to everyone who came from up or down the Moselle to attend!
Some works, of the river itself, of Metz Cathedral and of Sierck-les-Bains, have since found new owners !
A step on the journey, a new and curious audience, and one more pleasant experience during the Moselle project having spent more than a week in the city. Thanks to Cyrille and the City of Thionville for welcoming me.
